Windows 10 users can now restart apps after signing in

The most recent Windows 10 preview build for users enrolled in the Windows Insider program comes with a new option in the power menu on the Start menu.

Beginning with build 21359, users can restart apps after signing in by simply selecting the dedicated option in this regard available in the power menu.

The functionality to automatically load the apps currently running after the system reboots is already there in Windows 10, but Microsoft now wants to make it a little bit straightforward by integrating it into the Start menu.

“We have added an option under the Power menu on the Start menu to restart apps after signing in when you reboot your device. When this setting is checked, it toggles the option under Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options > Restart apps we introduced in 20H1,” the company explains in the release notes of the latest Windows 10 Insider Preview build.

So when is this feature projected to go live for everybody? Not too soon, as it’s likely to be a part of the Windows 10 21H2 feature update due in the fall.

Next feature update – Windows 10 version 21H1

In the meantime, Microsoft is getting ready to sign off the Windows 10 version 21H1 feature update projected to go live for production devices as soon as the next month.

“Based on feedback and learnings during the past year of extensive remote work, learning and play, version 21H1 will be delivered with servicing technology (like that used for the monthly update process and how 20H2 was delivered).  Windows 10, version 21H1 will have a scoped set of features improving security, remote access and quality. The features we are releasing in this update are focused on the core experiences that customers have told us they’re relying on most right now. So, we optimized this release to support our customers’ most pressing needs,” Microsoft says.

Windows 10 version 21H1 will therefore be shipped as a quality update to existing devices.
