Yoozoo CEO Died After Suspected Poisoning By Co-Worker

Beijing (PingWest)- Lin Qi, the chairman and chief executive of games publisher Yoozoo, died in a Shanghai hospital on Christmas Day after having been poisoned on December,16, Yoozoo confirmed on Friday.

Yoozoo announced that Lin, the founder, chairman and top shareholder, died on Friday without giving a specific cause. He entered the hospital on December 16 recently after experiencing discomfort and he was barely able to walk with a very painful expression of acute illness on his face, the hospital said.

During the patient’s treatment, the hospital said it had determined that Lin had been positioned.

Shanghai police said on December 23 that a 39-year-old man with the last name of Lin was allegedly poisoned and he has been apprehended amid the investigation.

According to the police report, the suspect poisoned Lin with a cup of pu-erh tea.

As one of the youngest billionaires in China, Lin had a net worth estimated at CNY6.8 billion, according to Hurun China Rich List. He was Yoozoo’s largest shareholder, owning 23.99% of shares, down from the 34.8% he held as of July 2019.

Founded in 2009, Yoozoo is best known as the developer of Game of Thrones: Winter is Coming, a strategy game for smartphones and personal computers based on the HBO hit series.

Yoozoo also hold the right of film adaption for Chinese science fiction novel the Three-Body Problem. In June, Yoozoo acquired the right to adapt the Three-Body Problem into video games.
