SOPA means my half-baked ideas might start being useful

All of this SOPA mess has me flipping back through my old notes to revive some really horrible ideas from the past decade. Most of them have to do with circumventing broken and/or missing DNS. I came up with them based on random ideas at the time and never intended to use any of them, but who knows what the future holds?

Here's one of them. It's for web browsing without DNS.

Imagine a new URI scheme where you can specify the IP address for the actual connection and then a hostname for the HTTP Host: header. After all, you need to tell the web server which virtual host to use!

Maybe we'd call it ehttp, for evil http. It might look like this:

ehttp://66.135.59.48,rachelbythebay.com/w/

See, I told you it was evil.
