Huge Leak Shows Off the OnePlus 9 5G in Great Detail

One of the most exciting upcoming smartphones just leaked in full.

Very rarely does an anticipated phone make it to market without leaking in some form or fashion. The OnePlus 9 5G is one of the most exciting phones set to release, and it has just received a massive leak that details just about everything about the phone.

The leak, which comes from PhoneArena, features photos of the upcoming smartphone from just about every angle. It also shows off screenshots from the Inware app, which details some of the phone's important specs.

What Did the OnePlus 9 5G Leak Reveal?

The leak confirmed the curved glass back we’ve seen on past releases from OnePlus. The design served the company well, so it makes sense that it would stick with it. The phone is also slated to use a rectangular camera area, just like the OnePlus 8T.

The front of the phone features a hole punch selfie camera on the left side of the screen. According to the leak, that OLED screen features a 2400×1080 FHD+ resolution. The screen is set to support HDR as well as a silky smooth 120Hz refresh rate.

As you might expect, the OnePlus 9 5G features a USB-C port on the bottom for charging. The leak didn't detail whether the phone would include fast charging, but we'd assume that it will include the tech, as the popular OnePlus 8T had 65W charging, and it would be odd for the company to downgrade.

As far as the specs go, the fascinating part of the OnePlus 9 5G is the processor. It's rumored to include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. The Inware app mentions the codename "Lahaina," which is the name frequently used for Qualcomm's upcoming high-end chip. The Snapdragon 888 will bring some incredible speed and performance to the phone, and it definitely makes for an exciting addition.

The leaked OnePlus 9 5G features 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. That implies that the leaker had their hands on the lower version of the device, as we'd expect the top-of-the-line models to feature far more internal storage and RAM. The OnePlus 8 came in both 8GB/128GB and 12GB/256GB configurations, and we'd expect something similar from the OnePlus 9 5G.

The leak also showed Android 11 installed, so users won't need to start with Android 10 and wait for an update to the latest variant of Android. Of course, it'll be the slightly modified version with OxygenOS.

When Will the OnePlus 9 5G Be Official?

The early reports indicate that the OnePlus 9 5G will release sooner than was originally expected. Some reports indicate that it could release sometime in December, which would mean the company needs to announce the phone officially very soon.

With that said, this leak seems rather solid, and we'd be surprised if this phone doesn't match what OnePlus ends up announcing.
