Use OEMConfig in your organization

This feature isn't supported by all EMM providers. Contact your EMM provider for a detailed list of the features they support.

Many device manufacturers (also called original equipment manufacturers or OEMs) support custom, OEM-specific management policies. OEMConfig is a standard that enterprise mobility management (EMM) providers and OEMs follow in order to make these policies available to IT admins.

How it works

Device manufacturers that support OEMConfig each publish their own OEMConfig app to Google Play. OEMConfig apps use managed configurations (visible to EMM providers) as a way to configure OEM-specific policies on a device.

Your EMM provider gives you access to these policies through your EMM console. In your EMM console, you can customize the OEM-specific policies of any managed Android 5.0+ device that has its corresponding OEMConfig app installed.

Apply OEMConfig policies to a device

For more detailed instructions, contact your EMM provider.

After you set up an Android 5.0+ device:

  1. Install the correct OEMConfig app on the device—your OEM provider should be able to provide the correct OEMConfig app.
  2. In your EMM console, locate the OEMConfig or device management section to set and apply custom, manufacturer-specific policies.
