Samsung opens an Android 10 beta with One UI 2.0 for the Galaxy S9/S9+

Early last month, Samsung kicked off the One UI 2.0 beta program for its flagship Galaxy S10 series. The update brought all the new features introduced in Android 10 to the devices, along with some minor improvements to Samsung’s own Android skin. Shortly thereafter, the program was extended to the Galaxy Note 10 series in Korea. Most recently, Samsung added last year’s Note 9 series to the beta program. And now, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ have made it to the list.

Registered Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+ users in India, the United Kingdom, and South Korea have now started receiving the beta version of Samsung’s latest software update on their devices. As with the previous releases, the One UI 2.0 beta release on the Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+ brings all the new features introduced in Android 10. Along with the Android 10 features, the update also includes some One UI specific changes. These include a couple of subtle UI improvements to streamline the design of the software. For instance, the caller notifications and volume bar have now been decreased in size so that they aren’t as intrusive as before.

Additionally, One UI 2.0 extends the Dark mode to the home screen, brings some minor changes to the Smart Lock screen, and a few new tools for digital wellness. The device care menu has also received some new features to help you manage your digital wellbeing, along with tools to give you more control over what’s on your device. If you wish to try out the One UI 2.0 beta for yourself, you can participate in the beta rollout from within the Samsung Members app. Do note that participation in the program requires a Samsung account, which you can create by heading over to this website. The beta program is currently available in India and South Korea, but it may be extended to other regions in the next couple of days.
