True. I've tested my Pixel 2 XL out in similar environments over the past week and have kept encountering similar results. With how loud it was in this specific spot (next to the stage PA stack), I was surprised it wasn't more distorted. Bass heavy situations (ie EDM) is a fail. I'll upload a few more examples now

Capturing loud environments decently at all isn't a given, so it's still useful to know how a device handles those.

Mine was like this even recording in normal outdoor setting.

UPDATE: I have successfully RMA'd my Black Pixel 2 XL after complaining about this and screen burn-in after only 6 days of ownership. We'll see if round 2 is better, but support promptly offered me a replacement after pulling my IMEI.

Thanks for posting this, seems the mic isn't great quality, especially for the one off concert video every now and then. Unfortunate, but maybe the next one will have a better mic.

Every P2XL video I've seen has had pretty "Bad" audio. Not unusably bad for home videos, but subpar. I don't think an RMA will fix that. But hopefully your display will be better.

I don't think any phone tops the S8/Note8 microphone quality. It has high AOP microphone for these purposes.
