10月5日晚8时，负责采购的店员吉野裕司盯着屏幕，听到“英国作家”，就知道了村上没机会了，但接下来说是Ishiguro这个熟悉的名字，“啊，想到那个人是有可能得奖的。”此前，韩国和肯尼亚的其他热门作家名字陆续浮现，“没有设想过，日裔英国小说家石黑一雄（Kazuo Ishiguro）最终会得奖。”
