New report claims that the Galaxy S25 series will feature Snapdragon chip, despite previous claims

After a year of absence, Exynos is back on the flagship Galaxy S line. A month ago we heard that this was just the first step to total domination – one leakster reported that all Galaxy S25 phones will use Exynos everywhere. However, a post from DigiTimes from today contradicts that.

The report suggests that Samsung will continue with its two-pronged strategy of using both Qualcomm and Samsung chipsets – the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Exynos 2500, in this case.

However, the the information doesn’t include details on where the dividing line will be drawn. It’s quite likely that it will be the same as this year with the Galaxy S25 Ultra exclusively using the Snapdragon, while the Galaxy S25 and S25+ getting either the Snapdragon or the Exynos, depending on where you buy them.

That rumor from a month ago also claimed that the Galaxy Z foldable series will use only Snapdragon chips, however a different report suggested that the Galaxy Z Flip6 might end up with an Exynos 2400. If that proves true, it will be the first time that an Exynos chip has been used in a foldable. We will know soon enough – the Z Flip6, Z Fold6 (and possible Ultra and FE models) are expected to be unveiled in time for the Olympics.

And if Samsung does have enough faith in the Exynos line to use it in its pricey flip foldable (which is small, making it hard to cool and with a small-ish battery), then it will certainly have enough faith in it to let the Exynos 2500 power at least the Galaxy S25 and S25+.

The Exynos 2500 is supposed to bring further optimizations and power efficiency improvements over the current 2400. Also, there are other changes in store for the S25 series.
