How to open a note, that's encrypted using TouchID on the iPhone, on the Mac?
So, naturally, there is no TouchID on the 2016 MacBook that I own. When I try to open an encrypted note using the Mac, it asks me for the password. Now, I was not asked for any backup password on the iPhone, while encrypting, because I chose to decrypt it using Touch ID. Now, when it asks for a password on the Mac, I don't know what to do. I tried inputting my iPhone's passcode, but no use. The note does get successfully decrypted on the iPad though, using Touch ID.
What do you guys think is the solution here?
There is a special password for Notes, that you had to set when you first started locking notes. It could be anything (isn’t necessarily the same as your phone PIN).
Check out Apple’s support doc on passwords for Notes for more information about the password and how to reset it.
You can't lock a note with Touch ID without first giving a password for your locked notes. You might have added one in the past and forgot. The password will be the same for all locked notes.
I had the same issue recently. I fixed it by unlocking the note on my iPhone and then changing the password to something I would remember... Hopefully.
Maybe it is your iCloud password…?
