The design of mobile phones has a significant impact on both the device’s ergonomics and its repairability for users. Over time, the internal assembly of components has become increasingly complex, often making it nearly impossible for users to troubleshoot their own smartphones. However, there are still Android phones available that offer ease of repair, and this article aims to shed light on these options.

An investigation conducted by the Electronic Hub website and reported by SamMobile has revealed which mobile phones are currently the easiest to repair. Notably, Samsung and Motorola are standout choices for individuals seeking smartphones that can be easily opened and repaired in a short amount of time. This approach allows users to avoid the need to spend excessive amounts of money on expert repairs.

The researchers at Electronics Hub examined the repair guides provided by iFixit for a total of 228 different mobile phones. Through this analysis, they were able to identify the Android phones that are currently the easiest to repair, as well as the average time required for each repair. Moreover, this research helped to identify smartphones that present more complex repair challenges for users.

The study’s findings indicate that the Motorola Moto G7 is presently the easiest Android phone to repair, as 50% of its repairs can be easily carried out by users. Why Is Repairability Important?

The repairability of a mobile phone is important for several reasons. First, it allows users to save money on repairs. If a phone is easy to repair, users can often do it themselves, which can save them a lot of money on labor costs. Second, repairability is good for the environment. When phones are not repairable, they often end up in landfills, where they can release harmful pollutants into the environment. Finally, repairability is a matter of consumer rights. Users should have the right to repair their own devices. And they should not be forced to buy new phones when their old ones break down.

What Can You Do to Make Your Phone More Repairable?

There are a few things you can do to make your phone more repairable. First, you can buy a phone from a brand that has a good track record of repairability. Second, you can avoid buying phones with proprietary screws or components. Third, you can learn how to repair your own phone. There are many online resources that can teach you how to do this.

By taking these steps, you can help to make your phone more repairable and save money, help the environment, and protect your consumer rights.
