前不久某开发人员在 Twitter 爆料 GPT-5 会在 12 月训练完成消息，顺便提及 OpenAI 希望 GPT-5 能实现通用人工智能 AGI 目标。Google 旗下 AI 实验室 DeepMind 董事长 Demis Hassabis 表示，AI 研究飞速发展，与人类大脑一样强的 AGI 即将到来，但推估时间点比 OpenAI 预测晚，几年内才会出现。
Hassabis 在《华尔街日报》举行会议表示，近年 AI 进展惊人，所以几年内将拥有非常强大、通用的 AI 系统。换言之，AI 与人类认知能力相当的 AGI 时代即将到来。
Google 早在 2014 年便耗资 5 亿美元收购 DeepMind，积极加强研发 AI，DeepMind 也成为 Google 抵御 OpenAI ChatGPT 与微软 Bing 的利器。Hassabis 更发挥核心作用，4 月 Google 宣布将 DeepMind 与独立 AI 研究部门 Google Brain 合并成 Google DeepMind，并由 Hassabis 负责。
2010 年成立后，DeepMind 一直致力打造像人类学习、思考和行动的 AI 系统与机器，解决众多难题。虽然 AI 进展迅速，但人类追求 AGI 的过程分歧却越来越大，尤其 ChatGPT 和 Google Bard 等大型语言模型常回答不准确和误用，让 AI 正负评价两极化现象更严重。
尽管如此，Hassabis 表示，没有看到任何让 AI 放慢脚步的因素。但为了避免不必要争议，今后 AI 必须采取谨慎且符合科学（包括严谨实验和测试）的方法开发。
