The Sony Xperia 1 V is all set to make its debut in Japan on May 11th. As per previous leaks suggested, the phone will be a direct upgrade over its previous iteration. And last week, the phone was spotted on a billboard, which gave us a glimpse of the enhancements it will bring.

Now, it goes without saying that the Sony Xperia 1 V is a flagship device. And considering the fact that the Sony Xperia 1 IV launched with a $1599 price tag, we were pretty much expecting the next-gen Xperia smartphone to be very expensive. Well, a new pricing information leak has just confirmed that!

According to the latest development o Sony Xperia 1 V, the phone will debut at RM 8000 in China. That’s around $1160, which is considerably cheaper than the $1599 tag that the last device debuted with. However, it is still more expensive than most of the current flagships.

But yes, Sony Xperias are pretty popular in China. Sony might be aggressively pricing the Xperia 1 V in that region to keep up with the competition. And this 6% price difference from the Xperia 1 IV will definitely make more people consider the device before getting a new phone.

Unfortunately, the same thing might not be true for the global markets. That is, the Xperia 1 V might not see a price cut in your region. Instead, it is highly likely to match the price tag of the Xperia 1 IV.

But considering the fact that the device is expected to come with huge upgrades, the price tag might be worth it. For example, Xperia 1 V is expected to ship with a next-gen low-noise sensor. Still, we will have to wait till the official unveiling to get concrete details.
