According to MacRumors, dog owner Colin Mortimer experienced such an encounter. He found that the AirTag on the dog’s collar was missing, so he used the Find My app to track and play the sound. Unexpectedly, the AirTag made a sound from the dog’s stomach. Coincidentally, another dog was sent to the emergency room by the owner because of swallowing an AirTag but luckily escaped the danger safely.

Apple said that it does not recommend that users use AirTag to track children or pets. This is because the device is originally designed to track objects rather than creatures. In addition, there is a CR2032 battery inside the AirTag, which may damage your pet’s stomach and cause poisoning if chewed.

However, some users claim that the size of the AirTag is too small. They believe that if it was a little larger, it could discourage pets from swallowing them. Also, a few users also want Apple to make the AirTag less attractive. However, these will likely not stop pets or kids from putting them in their mouth.
