That Kolkata, that Metro(First metro ),that tram. Nostalgia.. Kolkata should push this tram as a way to minimise pollution and efficient system . আমার কোলকাতা
As a Indian and a Kolkatan tram is our pride our soul please don't let it disappear #please 🙏🥺
Being a resident of Kolkta, it is really hard to see a dying mode of a potential transport system.
In Malaysia Penang also used to have tram but it stop operation a long time ago before they replace with trolleybus then normal bus. you could see the tram tracks along some of the georgetown road today.
This was a beautifully and well made film. SCMP you have created a masterpiece!
No matter what we want as a citizen of Kolkata. Only politics and money matters.
I am from Kolkata, trams are slowly going away because its very slow, its okay to ride tram when you have time. People here are running to reach office, using metro, local bus and trains, cabs, trams got outdated. But Kolkata loves heritage, we will keep Trams running forever, even though it becomes a joy ride, it will be there.
Hey let's support them in our on way. Let's ask Bengali youtubers to react on this, spam social media with kolkatatrams. We got to save this from becoming a heritage. This might be a selfish act but most of us are wasting our time scrolling why not waste some of it like this.
This video unlocked a memory from 1999.
The South China Morning Post can take out time for this interesting Short Film. What are the local politicians doing in India? I visited Hong Kong and the most memorable and fun part was the Tram ride across the city. Government of India and the Government of West Bengal will spend millions on new projects, but not improve a system which is already in place, cost effective and with less pollution. If only we can find a way for politicians to focus on welfare and progress. Jai Hind!

The problem is, they didn't update the network and system with the passing of generation. Modernization was needed back then in 2000, and now the condition looks pathetic.
Thank you for this video..it is a heritage but govt is neglecting it
If investments can be made to keep the trams appealing and improve comfort, people would be more willing to use the system. But either way, it’s a part of the city’s heritage that I’m sure people don’t want to disappear.
I am not sure if that style of tram is more economic environment friendly of transport compare to newer technology. However I do believe if it has similar modern technology it should be compared to hundreds of cars. Though this is about tram but what about buses or trains.
Whenever I see that tram i feel i just timetravelled to the Past! They need to add a more better and advanced tram...
I wish Indonesian gov't would bring back trams to the cities that has trams back then. Now, it's only Surabaya that has trams (as far as i know).

Questions Indians can't or refuse to answer:

Why India stopped participating in the PISA International high school students' test, since 2009? Was it because Indian students scored rock bottom at No.72 out of 73 countries back in 2009?
