Additional international speaker joins Comms Connect line-up

EVENT INVITE The latest global insights into IoT and mobile device security and management for first responders will feature in a new presentation added to the Comms Connect 2022 conference program.

The presenter, Don Harriss (pictured), is an IT security specialist for the Communications Technology Laboratory (CTL), Public Safety Communications Research (PSCR) division of the National Institute of Standards and Technologies (NIST), based in Boulder, Colorado.

Harriss’s presentation is titled ‘Mastering the IoT Tsunami: PSCR’s insight into IoT and mobile management for first responders’ and will take place at 11 am on day one of the conference on 19 October.

The PSCR division is the primary US federal laboratory conducting research, development, testing and evaluation of public safety communications technologies. PSCR is driven towards advancing public safety communications technologies by accelerating the adoption and implementation of the most critical communications capabilities.

The presentation provides a brief overview of the PSCR program and insight into the recent research on the cybersecurity implications and management challenges of the Internet of Things (IoT.)

This topic will also include related discussions on the recently released publication ‘NISTIR 8196, Security Analysis of First Responder Mobile and Wearable Devices’.

Comms Connect 2022 already boasts a high-quality list of local and international critical communications and public safety leaders, including Neal Richardson from the newly formed NZ Public Safety Network, Kylie De Courteney from NSW Telco Authority, Richard Reed from FirstNet USA and Shane Fitzsimmons from Resilience NSW.
