YouTube app for iPhone and iPad now supports picture-in-picture mode

Youtube iOS

Last June, Google announced the imminent arrival of picture-in-picture mode in the YouTube app for iPhone and iPad. A few months after the announcement, the feature became available to YouTube Premium subscribers. Now it became known that soon this mode will be available for use by all owners of compatible Apple devices.

This is a feature that allows you to minimize the YouTube application during video playback, while leaving a mini-player on the desktop in which the video continues to play. This window can freely move around the screen by the user to make viewing more comfortable. According to available data, testing of the feature ended in April of this year, and since then Google has not mentioned its future fate.

The Picture-in-Picture feature of YouTube becomes available for all iPhone and iPad users

Picture-in-Picture will work on devices running iOS 15, iPadOS 15 and later. To use the new feature, just go to the “General settings” section of the YouTube application; and activate the corresponding option.

As for the rate at which the new feature rolls out, it will likely take a few weeks before it becomes available to all users of the app on Apple devices. Note that the picture-in-picture mode is already available to free YouTubers in the US; but only for non-music videos.

Youtube

In March of this year; Google forced the developers of the YouTube Vanced application to close it and stop supporting it. We know Vanced as the best free alternative to YouTube Premium.

After that, another development team decided to continue the project and created a new ReVanced application, stating that they are not affiliated with the YouTube Vanced team in any way. ReVanced is the unofficial successor to YouTube Vanced and offers pretty much the same features as the aforementioned app.

The application now supports video playback without ads and in picture-in-picture mode, which was the main advantage of YouTube-Vanced app.
