网易等媒体报道，爱奇艺、优酷、腾讯视频等流媒体平台于2 月 11 日同步上线了美剧《老友记》第一季。《老友记》此前曾在搜狐视频独家上线，本次为多平台同步播出，每周五晚 8 点更新一季。网友随后发现，新版本有大量台词和剧情被删减了，以至于连剧情都无法顺利衔接，其中包括将同性恋角色台词大段删减。举例来说，在第二集中 Ross 向父母解释前妻是同性恋，离婚后准备和女友一起抚养小孩，这一情节全部删除，Ross 张开嘴没有声音，然后父母就表现出非常惊讶的表情。
