As 2021 gradually comes to an end, it's only natural to want to reflect on your memories of the outgoing year. Whereas you can turn to your diary for inspiration, the only pictures you'll likely be seeing will be mental ones.

Alternatively, you can use third-party apps to generate a slideshow of your 2021 in motion pictures. Or better yet, you can use Meta's 2021 Playback feature for Instagram.

View Your 2021 Highlights With Instagram's Playback Feature

Instagram's year in review feature, also known as 2021 Playback, was launched on December 9, 2021, and allows you to relive your memories.

1. To access it, open the Instagram app and tap on the View Playback prompt at the top of your feeds. If you can't find this in-feed notification, it's because 2021 Playback is being rolled out in phases, so expect it soon.
2. Meanwhile, you can tap on the 2021 sticker in other people's Playbacks or Stories to prompt yours. However, finding one can be a hassle.
3. Once done, tap on View Your 2021 Playback. This will generate a slideshow of all your Stories in the outgoing year. (Yes, IG maintains an archive of them. You can disable this in the Settings.)
   
4. Tap Next, then preview your Playback and share it if you like what you see.
5. Otherwise, you can edit it by adding or removing any story from your Stories archive before adding it to Playback from where you can share it to your Stories.
6. You can also add text, stickers, filters, tags, and mentions to your Playback.

Bear in mind, though, that you may only select ten Stories from your Stories archive to include in your 2021 Playback. Also, this feature is only available for a few weeks until year-end. So act fast.
