There's no doubt that 2021 was a great year for Apple. Not only because it most likely crushed its revenue goals but also because of all the new products it released.

Apple released over ten new products this year if you count both digital and physical products, and that's without taking the Beats products into account.

Yes, it was a great year for Apple products, but not every product was that special, and some of them felt more like mandatory refreshes than anything else. Read on to find out our ranking of every major Apple product released this year.

HomePod mini with Colors

Technically speaking, Apple did release a new HomePod mini this year, albeit it probably wasn't what everyone was expecting. Instead of releasing a new HomePod mini, Apple released the same product with new colors in November.

Sure, it's great to have new colors available, but it's got to be at the bottom of the list if the only new thing is yellow, blue, and orange colors.

MagSafe Battery Pack

When Apple revealed in 2020 that MagSafe was coming back to the iPhone, it also said that we should expect a bunch of new accessories that would easily stick to the back of the iPhone 12, including a MagSafe Battery Pack.

We had to wait until 2021 to see the battery pack in action. Apple quietly released this product, and there were some mixed feelings about it. By that time, there were already a bunch of cheaper MagSafe battery packs alternatives, but Apple's battery pack wasn't powerful enough to fully charge any of the iPhones. Basically, it wasn't worth the wait.

M1 iPad Pro

The announcement of the first-ever iPad Pro with an Apple Silicon chip was surprising, to say the least.

Apple decided to add an M1 chip to the already powerful iPad Pro, making it even more powerful. But, unfortunately, other than the internal specs, nothing really changed.

The iPad Pro still looks and feels the same as last year's model, which already felt the same as the 2019 model.

Still, using an Apple Silicon chip on the iPad is promising. People are already using the iPad Pro as a full laptop replacement, and those numbers are only going to increase the more Apple improves its chips and user interface on the iPad.

Apple Watch Series 7

Alongside the iPhone 13, Apple also launched the Apple Watch Series 7. Even though it didn't have any of the new health features we were waiting for, it was still a decent upgrade, especially since most people haven't upgraded their Apple Watch in years.

Apple says the Series 7 is the most-durable Apple Watch yet, and they might be right. With dust and water resistance, you can take your Apple Watch Series 7 anywhere, and its more durable display will take any accidental hit it may receive. Plus, it's got a bigger battery and a larger screen, so it's overall better than ever.

With that said, all in all, the Series 7 wasn't that big of an upgrade, especially if you have the Series 6. There really isn't anything significant enough to make you want to upgrade from an older Apple Watch. Who knows, maybe next year.

Apple TV 4K

Apple gave the biggest upgrade to the Apple TV yet. With a new Siri Remote, better processors, and 4K resolution, the Apple TV 4K was one of this year's big winners.

Sure, it doesn't look different on the outside. It still has the same design. However, the inside is where everything changes. Apple made several improvements on the interior, starting with a more powerful A12 Bionic Chip processor. That means it isn't powerful enough to binge-watch all your shows, but you can play your favorite Apple Arcade games as well.

Besides 4K, the new Apple TV also supports HDR content, which includes HDR10 and Dolby Vision. Overall, a great refresh for the small device.

iPhone 13

Just like every year, Apple launched a new iPhone. And as sometimes happens, the iPhone 13 wasn't that big of an upgrade as other years.

In 2020, the iPhone 12 brought a more powerful iPhone with some cool new features all packed inside a beautiful new design. The iPhone 13 has everything that made the iPhone 12 great, and it took it to the next level.

For iPhone 12 users, that means the iPhone 13 wasn't that big of an upgrade, but for new iPhone users, this was the go-to smartphone of the year.

9th Generation iPad

After quite a lot of time, Apple finally gave some love to the original iPad. In 2021, Apple finally launched the 9th generation iPad -- a more powerful iPad with the same look on the outside.

Even though Apple didn't add many things people were expecting, like a new design or second-generation Apple Pencil support, the original iPad got a much-needed upgrade on the inside.

The 2021 iPad's rocking the A14 Bionic chip, which was the same processor Apple used on the iPhone 11 lineup. Sure, it's not the best chip Apple has to offer, but it still has a lot of power.

Besides that, Apple added new features like Center Stage, True Tone, better front-facing cameras, and a Smart Connector so you can use the Smart Keyboard. Plus, it also comes with double the storage it had before for the same price.

AirTag

We'd been waiting for the AirTag for quite a while now, and it's great to see Apple finally released it. It also gets a high mention because it's actually the only brand new product Apple released this year. In fact, it's been a while since we saw a never-before-seen product from Apple. Plus, it's one of the most affordable Apple devices we've seen in a while too.

The AirTag is pretty straightforward. It's a small device that helps you track all your stuff and search for it in case you lose them. It can easily be paired up with your iPhone and, if you have an iPhone 11 or a later model, you can get direction to the AirTag if you're close enough.

M1 iMac

The M1 iMac was one of Apple's biggest computer upgrades this year. And it was quite a big one.

Apple changed everything on the 2021 iMac. From a brand new design with a lot of color options to a new Apple Silicon chip on the inside.
Speaking of the chip, thanks to the M1 chip, Apple managed to make a super-thin iMac this year. It was so thin; Apple had to put the headphone jack on the side because it couldn't fit on the back.

Unfortunately, some users complained that their iMac was a bit tilted for no apparent reason because of its design. Besides that, the 2021 iMac is one of the most powerful and beautiful desktops available.

MacBook Pros

We already knew they were coming, but the MacBook Pros were still a big surprise this year.

The new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros took the world by storm by reintroducing MagSafe to the Mac and introducing not one but two new Apple Silicon chips.

Apple used the new MacBook Pros to reveal the M1 Pro and the M1 Max chips, the two most powerful chips Apple offers. That makes the new MacBook Pros the most powerful laptop available.

Although, not everything was good news. Apple also decided to add a notch to the new MacBooks. No, there's no Face ID. It's just a camera notch. Why? Apple wanted to leave more room for a larger screen, but not everyone liked that choice. Still, they're one of the best computers and refreshes Apple's made.

6th Generation iPad mini

The iPad mini takes the cake this year when it comes to redesigns. Apple completely changed the smallest iPad and made it powerful and sleek, and now it kind of looks like an iPad Pro mini.

Everything new about the iPad mini is what people were expecting. Apple added a USB-C port, second-generation Apple Pencil support, Touch ID in the power button, and a design with almost no bezels.

The screen, which is now 8.3 inches, features Liquid Retina Display with True Tune, up to 500 nits of brightness, and a wider array of colors. That said, some people have had issues with the iPad mini's display because it's a bit laggy sometimes when you browse through the web, especially in landscape mode.
On the inside, the iPad mini rocks an A15 Bionic chip, the same one the iPhone 13 uses. This small change improves the performance up to 80%. Not bad for such a small device.

AirPods 3

Truth be told, the last three Apple products on the list could all be in the number one spot. They all had massive changes on the outside and improved the internals by a landslide.

But if there was a product that needed a refreshment was the regular AirPods. The good news is that it was worth the wait.

The new AirPods 3 now look more like the AirPods Pro than ever. They have smaller stems and an overall sleek and elegant design, without forgetting what makes the regular AirPods unique.

On the inside, the AirPods can now use Siri, and their battery is strong enough to last even longer than the AirPods Pro.

Sure, they might be a bit more expensive than before, but the AirPods 3 are still elegant, have amazing sound quality, and are a must-have if you're looking for new wireless earbuds.
