Ahana Fernandez 和她的同事在中美洲热带雨林中跋涉时，总会听到一种不寻常的声音：尖锐、重复的吱吱声。这些声音来自大银线蝠（Saccopteryx bilineata)的幼崽。在对超过 55000 只蝙蝠幼崽的叫声进行分析之后，研究人员发现这些声音与人类婴儿的咿呀学语有着显著的相似之处——它们都会无休止地重复同一个音节。换句话说，这些蝙蝠也许能帮助我们建立一套模型，用于理解包括人类在内的某些哺乳动物如何将早期声音转化为“言语”。
