CDMA Network Retirement

As we complete our network transition to 4G and 5G, we at Verizon would like to keep you up to date with some important activities.

Caution Currently, 3G / 4G non-HD Voice CDMA devices can't be activated for any new line of service.

  • Suspend/resume service
  • Number change
  • Plan or feature change
  • Upgrades or device changes to compatible 4G/5G devices
  • Activating new lines of 4G / 5G devices
  • Advanced troubleshooting outside of power cycling a device, checking software version and account setup with HD voice.
N/A
No Longer Supported
  • Troubleshooting limited to power cycling of a device, checking recent software version and account setup with HD voice (if applicable).
1/1/2021
  • Transfer of Service (moving 3G / 4G non-HD Voice CDMA device from one account to another account)
  • Bring Your Own Device (BYOD), providing a 3G / 4G non-HD Voice CDMA device to activate on an existing line.
  • Device changes from 3G / 4G non-HD Voice CDMA device for another 3G / 4G non-HD Voice CDMA device.
  • 3G devices roaming outside of the US.
  • 4G non-HD Voice devices and devices without 1x TT / 2G radios roaming in Canada.
1/1/2020
  • Activating 3G CDMA/4G non-HD Voice on prepaid service.
4/30/2019
  • Activating 3G CDMA/4G non-HD Voice on on postpaid service.
