哈勃太空望远镜科学家公布了迄今最详细的宇宙照片——“哈勃遗产场”（Hubble Legacy Field），由哈勃在 16 年间拍摄的 7500 张星空照片拼接而成，包含约 265000 个星系。图片上有些星系距离地球 133 亿光年远，即宇宙大爆炸后 5 亿年诞生的星系。创建这一图像的项目始于 1995 年，当时天文学家决定让哈勃望远镜连续 10 天聚焦天空中一个看似漆黑的空间。在此过程中，各种天体从黑暗中浮现出来。由此产生的图像——“哈勃深场” 揭示了数以千计的前所未见的星系，其中一些星系的光可追溯到早期宇宙。
