Ubuntu 18.04 LTS于今年4月正式发布，提供了诸如kernel 4.15、OpenJDK、安全性改进、系统更新、Ubuntu 桌面、提供最小化安装选项、GNOME 3.28、LibreOffice 已更新至 6.0、表情符号现在在大多数应用中已经可以以彩色显示等众多新特性。
Ubuntu 18.04 LTS 包含了一个报告工具，系统在征得用户同意的情况下向 Canonical 发回硬件和安装方面的信息，Canonical 现在根据这些信息公布了一些感兴趣的统计结果：
- 67% 的用户同意递交信息；
- 桌面的平均安装时间为 18 分钟，部分机器的完整安装时间不到 8 分钟；
- 超过 15% 的用户选择精简安装，超过半数的用户选择全新安装；
- 绝大多数机器只有一个 CPU ，这一结果并不出人意料；
- 大部分机器的内存容量为 4GB 或 8GB，还有机器内存高达 128GB；
- 最主流的显示屏分辨率是 Full HD (1080p) ，其次是 1366 x 768，HiDPI 和 4k 还不常见；
- Ubuntu 的美国用户最多， 巴西、印度、中国和俄罗斯的用户群也比较庞大。
